Harold Smith Cadreact
MILTON – Harold Smith Cadreact, 88, died at his home early Saturday morning, August 28, 2010 surrounded by his loving family.
Harold was born at home in Milton on July 3, 1922, the son of Harold J. and Rosanna Mary (Smith) Cadreact.
Harold graduated from Milton High School, class of 1941, and attended the University of Vermont.
He married Eleanor Robar on July 23, 1951 in St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Milton, Vermont.
Harold’s greatest love in life was his family and dairy farming. He very much enjoyed talking agriculture with the neighboring farmers, and going to the creamery to get the news of the day. He also had many other interests over the years including gardening, honey bees, and old farm machinery. Harold looked forward to going to the fair every year.
He is survived by his devoted wife Eleanor and his six children and their spouses. They are Stephanie Ann and Charles Tremblay of North Hero, Edward and Robin Cadreact of Pike, New Hampshire, Thomas Cadreact of Milton, Mark Cadreact of Glencliff, New Hampshire, Matthew and Kimberly Cadreact of North Haverhill, New Hampshire, and Daniel Cadreact of Glencliff, New Hampshire. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. Also surviving Harold are his siblings Marjorie Cleveland of Fairfax, Phyllis Viets of Naples, Florida, Louis and Claire Truso of Richmond, Vermont and David and Kate Cadreact of Milton, and by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Shirley Cadreact, and his grandson Daniel Burkhart, with whom he was especially close.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at 2 p.m. in St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Milton. Memorials may be made to St. Ann’s Food Shelf, c/o St. Ann’s , P.O. Box 1, Milton, VT. 05468.
Visiting hours wereheld at Harold and Eleanor’s home located at 89 Main Street, Milton, Vermont from 3-8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 31, 2010.

Anne (Breen) Stanton
MILTON – Anne (Breen) Stanton, 53, died on Thursday, August 26, 2010 at the Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington, surrounded by her loving family.
Anne was born in Lawrence, MA, on December 2, 1956, the daughter of Louis and Helen (Kelleher) Breen.
She graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Lawrence, MA in 1974 and attended Northern Essex Community College.
She married Larry Stanton on November 9, 1991. Larry predeceased her on October 4, 1996.
Anne had worked at Green Mountain Coffee Roasters as a Customer Training Manager for over 15 years.
She is survived by her sons Donald LaFleur and wife Alexis of St. Albans, and Tim LaFleur of Milton. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters Jane Valentine and husband William of Lawrence, MA., David Breen and wife Constance of North Andover, MA., Louis “Luke” Breen Jr. and wife Christine of Londonderry, NH., Daniel Breen and partner Jim Burnett of Weybridge, VT and her nieces and nephews, Sean, Katie, David, Steve and Mary Kate Breen and Josh Burnett-Breen.
A funeral service was held on Tuesday, August 31, 2010 in the United Church of Milton at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Jeff Cornwell officiating. Burial followed in the Milton Village Cemetery.
Visiting hours were on Monday, August 30, 2010 from 4-7 p.m. in the Minor Funeral Home in Milton.

Ronald "Tiny" A. White
MILTON – Ronald “Tiny” A. White, 60, died Sunday, August 15, 2010 after a long battle with many illnesses and other health issues.
Tiny was born on August 28, 1949, the son of Allan J. and Carol I. (Martin) White.
He lived in Milton most of his life.
He studied the Civil War time period of 1861-1865.
During the Vietnam conflict, Ron served in the Army, stationed at Ft. Hood in Texas.
Ron also belonged to many patriotic/Veterans groups which included Vietnam Veterans of America and was founder of Chapters 829 and 881 of Montpelier. He was a member of Chapter 753 of St. Albans, The Vietnam Veterans Assoc. in Plattsburg, NY; RVA Post 514 in Winooski, American Legion Post # 100 and of the Milton Historical Society.
He was an avid van rally member attending over 300 meets. He loved meeting and making friends nationwide.
He was well known for his sense of humor and the practical jokes he played on others.
Tiny is survived by his half sister Sylvia, her children and several other relatives.
A graveside service was held on Monday, August 30, 2010 at 5 p.m .in the Milton Village Cemetery in Milton, VT.

Roland Joseph Smith
ESSEX JUNCTION – Roland Joseph Smith, 72, died peacefully on Tuesday evening August 24, 2010 at the Vermont Respite House in Williston, surrounded by his loving family.
Roland was born in Colchester on October 7, 1937, the son of Lloyd and Nina (Hicks) Smith.
He graduated from Essex Junction High School in 1956.
He married Katrina McLaughlin on July 26th, 1958 in Essex Center. They had celebrated 52 years of marriage.
Roland never stopped working. He retired from the State of Vermont in August of 1996 following 34 years of service. He retired from the Vermont Air National Guard as Master Sgt in October of 1997 following 42 years of service.
He was a member of the Ethan Allen Lodge # 72, and served as Past Master, Past District Deputy Grand Master, Past Grand Jr. Decon of Grand Lodge, and Past Grand Tyler of Grand Lodge. He received his Meritorious Service Award in June of 1996. He was a member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite 32 Degree, and Stage Manager for Scottish Rite. He was an Illustrious 33rd degree Mason, was a member of Mt. Sinai Shrine and Cycle Unit, Sword of Bunker Hill, National Sojournier – Chapter 527 and Heros of 76, Temple Chapter Order of Eastern Star #75 and Past Patron of OES and Past District Deputy of OES, Grand Cross of Color Order of Rainbow Girls, and member of the Board of Directors Children’s Learning Center, the Essex Junction Cemetery Assoc., and was most recently employed by the Essex Jct. Vt. Tech. Center and Wilcox Cove Golf Course.

Roland is survived by his wife Katrina, his children Veronica Desbiens of Essex Jct., Vernon Smith and wife Donna of Franklin, Wendy Ford and husband Don of Orlando, FL, and Wendell Smith and wife Stacey of Burlington, by his grandchildren Joe McKeown, Krystal, Samantha, Dillon, Erica, Brett, Tyler, and Kierra Smith and Michael Capsey, and by his great grandson Parker McKeown.
He is also survived by his brothers Reggie and wife Terry Smith of Milton, Harlan of Essex Jct. and by his sisters Donna Holmes and husband Larry of Essex Jct. and Linda Lander and husband Brian of Milton and by several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother Norman Smith, sister Diane Brady and son-in-law Bob Desbiens.
A funeral service was held on Saturday, August 28 at 10 a.m. in the Masonic Center, located on 87 Bishop Ave. in Williston. Burial followed at the Fairview Cemetery in Essex Junction. Memorial contributions may be made to the Vermont Respite House, 99 Allen Brook Lane, Williston, VT 05495.
Visiting hours were held on Friday, August 27 from 4-8 p.m. in the Minor Funeral Home in Milton.
