Star Gazing Sleigh Rides. Saturday, Jan. 23, at Shelburne Farms. Join Pat Palmer of Thornapple Farm and his team of Percherons for a winter evening of star gazing. Put on your woolies and brave the winter for one of these half hour rides at 6, 6:45 and 7:30 p.m. Don't forget to bring a thermos with a warm beverage. Tickets: $15/adults; $10/children ages 3 - 13. 2nd Annual Military Appreciation Ride-in. Saturday, Jan. 30, Kenyon's Field, Rte. 100, Waitsfield. The event will honor the members of the Vermont National Guard and its families with a fun-filled, free event. Activities include snowmobile demo rides, dog sledding, snowshoeing, groomer demonstrations, games and more.

- Sleigh rides will leave the Shelburne Farms Welcome Center on the half hour on weekends for as long as the snow lasts. The sleigh rides last 15 minutes and are on a first-come, first served basis. Tickets: $8/adults; $6 for children; free for children under 3. Information: 985-8442.
- Look Good...Feel Better program, a FREE service that teaches female cancer patients beauty techniques at the American Cancer Society, 121 Connor Way, Suite 240, Williston. - "Memory Mondays." The Clinical Neuroscience Research Unit at UVM College of Medicine and Fletcher Allen Health Care is offering FREE memory screening to adults age 55 and over at their "Memory Mondays" clinics. These 1/2-hour screenings take place on the first and thirdMondays of each month at the University Health Center (UHC) in Burlington. - The Vermont French Canadian Society Library is open for research Tuesdays, 3 - 9:30 p.m., and Saturdays, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m., (except for holidays) in Dupont Hall, Fort Ethan Allen, Hegeman Ave., Colchester. There are resources for French Canadian research, including recent publication from various Vermont parishes. There is also Irish research resources as well as Vermont Vital Records on microfilm. - All who have experienced a loss during pregnancy, infant loss or SIDS death, whether recently or in the past, are welcome to participate in the pregnancy and infant loss support group Share Hope. The group meets monthly on a drop-in basis. All are welcome to attend regularly or whenever you feel the need for support. - Vermont Adult Learning offers GED tests and Adult Diploma program preparation, driver's permit and CDL prep; English language classes, computer and workplace essential skills, a high school completion program and much more. GED testing twice monthly in St. Albans and three times monthly in Colchester, including Saturday. Daytime and evening hours.
