Cheerleading welcomes Sue Cramer

By ZENDA FARREL | Milton Independent Sports Writer

The varsity cheerleaders welcome Milton resident Sue Cramer as new head coach this year. An alumnus of MHS and former cheerleader herself, Sue is now an AACCA (American Association of Cheerleading Coaches and Administrators) certified cheerleading coach and she was recently certified at the VCCA (Vermont Cheerleading Coaches Association) conference in Burlington, VT. Although this is her first experience coaching at the varsity level, she has assisted with both the JV and JH teams in the past. “I have always loved cheerleading and I want everyone to know that it truly is a great sport to participate in and a great experience for all the athletes. It takes a great deal of talent and skill to perform as a cheerleader and we have a great group of girls this year!” says Sue.

The Cheerleading team consists of (back row, L-R) Sue Cramer, Jessica O'Brien, Megan Grout, Michaela Remillard, Erin Rock Miranda Mumley; (middle row, L-R) Kendra Augustino, Chelsea Smith, Kasey Bissonnette, Brianna Ste. Marie, Katie Dumas; (bottom row, L-R) Jordan Bean, Stephanie Ashline, Emily Mercure, TameraCary, Bree Alvarado, Meaghan Dorey, Amanda Mumley, Ashley Bleakley.

This year’s squad includes freshmen Stephanie Ashline, Jordan Bean, Kasey Bissonnette, Ashley Bleakley, Emily Mercure, Michaela Remillard; sophomores Kendra Augustino, Katelyn Dumas, Miranda Mumley, Jessica O’Brien, Erin Rock; juniors Brianna Ste. Marie, Chelsea Smith; seniors Meghan Grout, Tamera Cary, Bree Alvarado, Amanda Mumley and Meaghan Dorey.

Sue is very excited about the upcoming year. “I am a strong believer that if we work together as a team and believe in our program, we will have a very successful program. We need to work hard but have fun! Every position on our team is just as important as the next and we all need each other to succeed. We have 18 cheerleaders on the squad – a great team! Each individual has unique talents that help to complete the team. I am very proud of our progress so far and I hope everyone comes out to show their support and cheer along with us.”

The girls will cheer at as many home games as possible and compete at NVAC on 2/9 and States on 2/23. In addition, they will be doing lots of fun crowd-pleasing cheers, partner stunts and routines to keep the school spirit alive.

The cheering season opens at MHS at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 7. Go Milton, RAH, RAH, RAH!!!
