Lacrosse By ZENDA FARRELL | Milton Independent Sports Writer
Although the varsity lacrosse team is still looking for a win, the team is making headway and becoming a competitive force on the field. At Vergennes last Tuesday, Milton lost 13-4. Beau Cushing scored two goals for the team and Sam Macy and Chris Daudelin each netted singles. The Green Knights held the Jackets scoreless in a 16-0 washout at Rice last Thursday. Jordan O’Grady had 8 saves in the loss. On Saturday, a home game against Vergennes had a little more spark and the fi nal score was 7-5. Milton pounded the Commodores net and their goalie turned back 23 shots. Jared Read and Chris Daudelin each scored two goals in the loss and added one assist. Jordan O'Grady and Dustin Cummings combined for 10 saves. A home game against Spaulding on Monday ended in a 12-6 loss with O’Grady and Cummings combining for 18 saves. The Yellowjackets took a total of 15 shots on net with Beau Cushing making the mark twice. Jared Read, Scott Christman, Chris Daudelin and Josh Rhodes scored single goals. “The team has been led in the goal by Jordan O'Grady and Dustin Cummings. Jared Read and Chris Daudelin are really starting to pick it up offensively. Beau Cushing and Tyler Wasserbauer have been eating up groundballs. Despite the losses, the team has improved with each game. The younger guys, the sophomores and freshmen, are contributing well and growing with each game. I am proud of how the team has been supportive and encouraging of each others' efforts,” commented head coach Jason Gorczyk. The team travels to St Johnsbury on Thursday for a 4 p.m. game and to Harwood on Saturday for an 11 a.m. start. Go Yellowjackets!!
