Lancers snuff Jackets in LAX opener By ZENDA FARRELL | Milton Independent Sports Writer The Lamoille Lancers snuffed the Yellowjackets by a score of 16-0 in their season opener on Saturday morning. Although the weather cooperated and the game was played on dry fields under long awaited glorious spring skies, despite 8 attempts on net, Milton was unable to get past the Lamoille keeper. Between the posts for the Jackets, Jordan O'Grady stopped a total of 14 shots in the loss. Lamoille (1-1) outshot Milton 30 to 8 and dominated faceoffs 15 to 5. Coach Jason Gorczyk says, “I was particularly proud of Tyler Wasserbauer, Lance Champney, and Beau Cushing. They elevated their games after the first quarter and showed leadership. Lamoille did some nice things on offense, but more importantly, they did the little things like hustling to and picking up groundballs and passing and catching consistently. They are a well coached team. Our next steps are to learn as much as we can from this loss, challenge each other everyday in practice, and play better on Saturday against a well-conditioned GMVS team. After one league game the Jackets' record is 0-1. The next game is at home on Saturday, April 26 at 11 a.m. Go Yellowjackets!! |
