Ward to coach for Cannons Baseball

The Colchester Cannons Baseball team recently announced the addition of MHS graduate and athlete Nate Ward to their coaching staff. Ward, who graduated in 2006, was named MVP four times, in two sports during his career at Milton. He earned the recognition in both varsity football and varsity baseball as a junior and then again as a senior.

In addition, he was named All-Metro, 4 consecutive seasons for the Yellowjackets and in his junior year he led the Yellowjackets to the Division II baseball finals. He played with the Cannons in 2005 and 2006.

Ward is currently a junior attending The College of Saint Rose in Albany where he is majoring in marketing. He is a member of the St. Rose Golden Knights and part of the Division II Northeast 10 conference. “We have a pretty good team. We struggled for a couple of years but we are in a rebuilding process and we have high hopes for this season,” said Ward enthusiastically. “Jeff Mongeon offered me a job as pitching coach with the Cannons and since I will be interning with the Lake Monsters and I'll be around, I thought it would be a great opportunity to give back to a program that helped me get where I am today.”

Ward has been brought on board as pitching coach for the Senior Cannons and will join head coach Jeffrey Mongeon and bench coach David Saddlemire.
