Youth wrestlers host tournament

Milton youth wrestling hosted its 4th annual tournament Saturday. Milton played host to 250 wrestlers from around the state. The competition was awesome, the matches were hard fought, and in the end every wrestler brought home an award for their efforts. A team sportsmanship award is also presented. This year the award has been re-named to the Donna Circe Team Sportsmanship Award to honor the 10 plus years Donna has given to the sport of wrestling in Milton. This year's recipient was the Fluffy Bunny Wrestling Club, based out of Underhill Vt.

The Milton Youth wrestlers put on a great display of wrestling talent this day, each wrestler gave 110% and win or lose showed the sportsmanship come to be expected of all Milton athletes.

In the K-2 division taking 1st place in their weight division were Joshua Carner, and Nicholas Johnson. Secondplace finishes were earned by Mahoonri Barca, Cole Heisler, Toni Gori and Rebecca Gratton. A third place finish was captured by Cassie Allen.

In the 3-4 grade division taking their second tournament championship of the season were Ian Kandzior and Nate Hoffman. Finishing second place in their weight classes were Jake Wilkins and Kaleb Pierce. Third place finishes were earned by Tyler McRae and Anthony Pelkey. Fourth place finishes were earned by Isaiah Foss and Brandon Button.

In the 5-6 grade division the best finish of the day belonged to Alana Stone with a second place finish. Third place finishes were captured by Joseph Barca, Emily Remillard, Joseph Badger, Nacara Foss, and Nicholas Gratton. Fourth place finishes were earned by Michael Bourne and Joshua Circe.

This tournament was the biggest in Milton's history and couldn't have been the success it was without a lot of help. A special thanks to Peanut for all her help, to Donna Circe and Carrie Gale for organizing the concession stand, to all the parents and wrestlers of the Varsity, Junior High and youth teams for their help on the scoring tables. To Fred for his help on the head table and to Mel and Judy for running bout sheets all day. A huge thank-you to Ann and Laurie, for the use of the school and for their continued support of Milton youth athletics.

The club will be back in action next Saturday as the team travels to Bristol for the Mt. Abe Invitational.
