Wins evade Yellowjackets

Josh Patterson aims to score against Middlebury on Monday night.

Twelve games into the season, the varsity boy's basketball team is struggling for a win.

In the first of a 6 game homestretch, Milton lost to the Enosburg Hornets by a score of 40-32.

Strong defensive play from Milton held the Hornet scoreless for 6 minutes in the second half but Enosburg rallied for the win.
Dustin Hendy was high scorer for Milton with 6 points.

“We played pretty good defensively but we shot poorly throughout the entire game,” said Coach Jim O'Grady.

A Monday evening game against Middlebury saw the Tigers improve their record to 8-5 by taking advantage of the 37-25 lead going into the second half and expanding it to a final score of 73-42.
Hendy led the team with 15 points.

O'Grady feels that they were ice cold in the second half and that defense simply faded. The team played without leading scorer and rebounder Mike Phelps who is sidelined with a foot injury.

“Hopefully, he will be able to play on Saturday against Vergennes,” said O'Grady.

Next up is a home courtgame against Vergennes on Saturday at 11:30 a.m.

Come on Milton!
